South Carolina Amateur Shooting Dog Invitational

A special weekend celebrating good dogs, good horses, great grounds, and the people who make South Carolina field trials possible.

A reward for a successful season

About the Invitational

The South Carolina Amateur Shooting Dog Invitational is one of ASCFTC’s newest traditions, created with a simple goal: to encourage participation at ASCFTC member club trials throughout the season and reward the dogs and handlers who support them.

The idea was to create something a little different from a traditional field trial—an opportunity for qualifying dogs and their handlers to experience exceptional private grounds that they might otherwise never have the opportunity to ride and compete on.

Through good relationships and the generosity of landowners, ASCFTC secured several private properties with the intention of rotating the Invitational among them. Our hope is that, by running a well-organized and enjoyable event with minimal impact on each property, we can continue building relationships and introduce participants to even more outstanding South Carolina grounds in the years ahead.

The inaugural Invitational was held in 2026 at Little Hobcaw Plantation near Kingstree, South Carolina. In 2027, the Invitational moves to Knight’s Hill Plantation in Camden, South Carolina.

Unlike a traditional points trial, there are no points at stake at the Invitational itself. The weekend is meant to be a reward for a successful season—a chance to have fun, make memories, ride beautiful country, and showcase twelve deserving amateur shooting dogs.

The Invitational is held the first weekend in March, after hunting season has concluded but early enough to work around the prescribed burning and land-management schedules of the host plantations.
